2025 RECITAL INFORMATION

For 30 years, Le Rose Dance Academy has provided students with an exciting performance experience through its annual June recital. Our recital offers students a professionally directed performance that allows them to present to their families and friends the result of a year's hard work, dedication, and progress.

A big part of dance training is learning through performance. Although performance opportunities can help prepare some students for a possible career in dance, they also contribute to children's success in non-dance activities. The performance experience help build self-esteem and self confident, and it can result in better in-school presentations, improved social skills, and strong interview skills for future college or job opportunities. The rehearsal process is also a tremendous learning experience as it helps the children develop retention skills. By working with their classmates on a group performance, they learn the positive aspects of working as a team to create the best results.

We work hard to make the dance experience organized and fun. Keeping you informed is one of our primary goals. Please read all newsletters and other studio information. Newsletters and important updates are sent to the email address that you provided on your registration form. Information can also be found on our website, app, and through emails sent to you.

IMPORTANT DATES

BAND APP

To help dancers prepare for their performance, we will be sending them a video of their routine and their music. To do this, we’ll be utilizing the Band app. Once you have downloaded the app and opened the LRDA band space, you will have access to your dancer’s music and a video of the routine. We’ll be sending out a video tutorial of how to do this. Videos and music will be sent out mid-May.

A link to the LRDA Band has been sent to the email we have on file.

$85 for your first dancer

$25 for each subsequent dancer in the same household

Non-refundable.

HEADSHOT WEEK

May 12th - 15th

All dancers will have their individual headshots taken during their regularly scheduled class time. We use these headshots in the “yearbook” portion of the program book. You will also be able to purchase a copy of your dancer’s headshot or a button to wear at the recital. J Simpson Photography will be taking these photos. All payments and questions will go through J. Simpson Photography. You can find contact information in the handout and on our website.

Please have your dancer come with hair and makeup done. They need to wear a solid colored leotard (preferably black). No parents will be allowed in the photo area. You can pick up an order form for a copy or button during this week in the lobby.

HAIR & MAKEUP

Hair

At the in-studio dress rehearsal, you will get a sheet of paper with the hairstyle for your dancer’s routine. It will also contain the name of the dance, the stage makeup needed, and any accessories. In your handout, there is a tutorial on how to do a ballet bun and some tips. Our biggest tip is to wet your dancer's hair before starting.

Makeup

We also require dancers to wear stage makeup. This is so that the stage lights and costume don’t wash out your dancer’s beautiful face. You’ll appreciate this detail when you get the recital video! Your handout contains a tutorial on the stage makeup as well.

Booster Club Help

If you would like some help with hair and makeup, our Rosette Booster Club offers hair and makeup services the day of recital. When you sign up, you will be given a time to show up at the recital. After you check-in, your dancer will be taken to the hair and makeup moms to get ready!

For more details about hair and makeup, download our Recital Packet below:

SCHOLARSHIPS

Every year, we like to honor two of our former students, Alexa Marie Shank and Emma Rose Moore.

Any student enrolled at Le Rose Dance Academy has the opportunity to fill out an application for a scholarship in memory of Alexa and Emma. Applications should be filled out by the dancer and will need to be turned in by May 12, 2025. All applications will be given to the parents of Alexa and Emma, and they will choose one recipient each that will be credited $500 to be put into their LRDA dance account for the next dance season.

Dancers should answer the following question in their application. Be creative in your presentation.

  • What is your full name?

  • What is your age?

  • Describe yourself

  • How many years have you been dancing?

  • What is your favorite style of dance and why?

  • What other activities are you involved in?

  • What grades do you receive in school (GPA or A, B, C average)?

  • What do you want to be when you graduate and why?

  • What does it mean to be a friend?

  • If you could change one thing in the world, what would it be?

  • What would receiving this scholarship mean to you?

  • Include any other information that you would like us to know about you.

  • Include a picture of yourself (will not be returned).

DRESS REHEARSAL

There will be TWO dress rehearsals leading up to Recital

1) In Studio Dress Rehearsal

2) On Stage Dress Rehearsal

In Studio Dress Rehearsal

June 9th - 12th @ Le Rose Dance Academy

We will have a dress rehearsal during your dancer’s regularly scheduled class time. They will need to wear their costume to class with practice tights and correct dance shoes. One parent per dancer will be invited into the class for the last 10 minutes to watch and go over any details that need to be taken care of before the recital. Hair and makeup is not required, but highly recommended. This will be great practice for you!

On Stage Dress Rehearsal

June 19th @ Franklin Community High School

Dancers will participate in a stage rehearsal at Franklin Community High School’s auditorium. Stage rehearsals are not only a practice for the dancer but for the parent as well so that they are prepared. This also allows the dancer to become familiar with the backstage area, the stage, and feel comfortable with their performance, costume, and their surroundings. In addition, lighting, music cues, video cues, staging cues, and all other logistics will be rehearsed so that the dancers are ready for an organized and professional performance. A few other key factors include: the recital stage is much larger than a classroom, stage lights can be disorienting, no mirrors can confuse dancers, and they can practice entering and exiting the stage. The stage rehearsal is also the only time parents can take non-flash photography and record their dancer’s routine.

Everyone will enter door 50. Dancers should arrive with practice tights on, and their hair and makeup done. They will bring costumes and dance shoes with them and put them on in the dressing room. Parents will not be allowed in the backstage or dressing room areas. Once you’ve dropped your dancer off, you will go to the auditorium to watch! Dancer’s will remain backstage until the end of their rehearsal time. One parent needs to come back to the check-in area to pick up their dancer.

Before or after your dancer performs onstage, the teacher or assistant(s) will take the class to get their professional photo taken in their costume. You will be able to order these photos from J Simpson Photography. All payments and questions will go through J. Simpson Photography. You can find contact information in the handout and on our website.

RECITAL DAY!

SATURDAY, JUNE 21ST @ FRANKLIN COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL

There will be THREE Recital shows this year.

Show 1: Dancers need to arrive at 8:00am, doors open at 8:00am, and the show begins at 9:00am

Show 2: Dancers need to arrive at 1:00pm, doors open at 1:00pm, and the show begins at 2:00pm

Show 3: Dancers need to arrive at 5:00pm, doors open at 5:00pm, and the show begins at 6:00pm

If you have signed up for your dancer's hair and makeup to be done by the Rosette Booster Club, you will have a different arrival time that you will receive from them.

The Recital order will be posted in the studio, and you will receive a handout with your dancer's show information on it. If your dancer is in more than one class, they may be in more than one show. Combo classes will always be in the same show.

Arrival

Dancers and one parent only will enter door 50. They should arrive with their recital tights on, and hair and makeup done. Audience members will enter door 55, which will open one hour prior to the show’s start time. If you have signed up for your dancer's hair and makeup to be done by the Rosette Booster Club, you will have a different arrival time that you will receive from them.

After the Show

For your dancer’s safety, a strict dismissal policy will be enforced. Dancers will be on the stage waiting for ONE FEMALE parent/guardian. Once you pick your dancer up from the stage, you will go to the dressing room to pick up their things. All other family and friends should wait in the lobby. No dancers should be in the auditorium before, during, or after their performance. Make sure that everything your dancer brings to stage rehearsal and recital is labeled with their first and last name. We are not responsible for any lost items.

Important

Absolutely, no photos or videos should be taken during the recital. This is for the safety of the dancers. Anyone seen recording video or taking photos will be asked to leave. For your convenience, the recital dances will be forwarded to your email via digital download a few weeks after the recital. This was part of your recital fee. You will have a chance to take video and non-flash photos of your dancer at the stage rehearsal.

Recital is short, so please no meals or snacks in dance bags. There will not be any time for them to snack. Feed your dancer beforehand to ensure they are good during the recital. If you pack a small water bottle, place the dancer’s name on it.
